Things To Think
About When Viewing Art
This is an article
for regular people who like different kinds of art.
1. Those who have attended art school or been schooled in fine art will
probably have a different way of looking at art than a person who just
likes art because they like art.

2. Then there
are those who really don’t like art or understand it. Like going to an
art gallery with someone who constantly says they could have done that
art work themselves or complains about the cost of
admission or asks very loudly "Why would anyone pay money for that!"
Looking at any kind of art with these folks frustrates me and the
docent who follows us around the art museum aghast that we would have
entered at all.
3. I like the art I like because I like it. I find contemporary art
fascinating like the floor to ceiling exhibit I saw in San Francisco.
I have to admit the modern art piece at the Guggenheim that was
covered with dead flies was not a favorite of mine but just the idea
of it was certainly interesting.
4. Looking at art is and should be different for everyone. Fine art
can bring feelings of wonder at things so beautiful and Christian art
reminds me of stories that I grew up learning. Japanese art and French
art tells me of different, exotic cultures. Animal art including horse
art and cat art are often whimsical and entertaining.
5. When I view art I often begin to feel creative and free. I’m in awe
when I see inspirational art and I think it changes me and how I look
at things.
6. Fine art photography is another area of art I enjoy, especially
when done in black and white.
7. If you want to understand more about different kinds of art look at
the public library. Many art museums offer tours and classes.
You do not have to be a trained artist to enjoy or appreciate art.
Visit an art gallery and just see what delights and entertains you. It
doesn’t matter how anyone else feels about it. Art is a private
matter......
